At the beginning of August Euro Alliance Tunnels started with the preparation works for the execution of the inner lining at Burgbergtunnel in Erlangen, Germany. After finishing the levelling concrete layer and the installation of waterproofing membrane the lining structure will be constructed with in-situ concrete. Two separate formwork carriages - one for the invert, the other for the crown-arch, will progressively drive through the excavated tube. After filling in the concrete and the hardening process the formwork carriages slide on tracks until reaching the exact position for the following block. All in all 26 blocks have to be constructed until the inner lining structure is completed. Each blocks is 12,5 m long, except of the portal sections which are 6 m and 10 m. The thickness of the inner lining will be 35 - 50 cm.
